MILO tiles by Eliane

Painted Portuguese-style ceramic tiles have been an important feature of Brazilian architecture for centuries, and this whimsical yet understated collection from Eliane, the country’s biggest ceramics manufacturer, is inspired by that tradition. Named for Eliane founder Maximiliano Gaidzinski (or Milo, as he was affectionately known), the unglazed porcelain tiles feature low-relief engravings that reimagine traditional decorative motifs in a collage of playful modern illustrations. Available in three sizes and a range of eight muted colours, from red clay to concrete to black, Milo offers a connection to the past, present and future of one of Brazil’s most celebrated design elements.

MILO tiles from Eliane demonstrating modern Brazil design and shown in a soft clay colour on the backsplash of a kitchen.

Team: Celso Rayol, Fernando Costa and Luiz Eduardo Rayol with André Caterina, Daniel Osório, Eduardo Romano, Júlia de Queiroz and Maria Luiza Peixoto
