The elegance of this historic Edwardian home — with its white steel columns, curved linen walls and marble fireplaces — belies the effort that went into creating it. In its exhaustive renovation of both inside and out, the design team took pains to preserve as much of the home’s brick and limestone exterior character as possible while upgrading its energy efficiency and modernizing the interior. Some elements (including an oak herringbone floor and a curving grand central staircase) are new yet pay tribute to the home’s original details, while others, like the ornate plaster ceiling in the living room, were restored to their former glory.
