Victoria, BC’s tea culture has long been defined by the genteel formality of British tea houses. Softer Drink Shop signals a spirited new era. Saksun Studio captures the playful, abundance-driven ethos of its clients through a colour-drenched interior of rainforest-green concrete floors, split-pea-green walls and chartreuse millwork. Copper plays an equally bold role: A hand-hammered bar by Tyler Lepore undulates through the space like a river, climbing the back wall in a mesmerizing ripple evoking dappled light and the sparkle of carbonation. Handmade paper lights embedded with actual tea leaves, resin stools and wonky blown-glass bottles complete a space that feels joyfully, unapologetically alive.
