The founder and principal of MAD Architects leads projects across various scales. Many of Ma Yansong’s designs have followed his concept of the “Shanshui City” — a vision to create a new balance among society, the city and the environment through architecture. His international practice explores this idea through imaginative works that include the Absolute Towers in Mississauga, Ontario, and the Harbin Opera House in China. In 2014, Ma was selected to design the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art in Los Angeles, making him the first Chinese architect to design an overseas cultural landmark.
