The golden ratio has guided artists, designers and architects to harmonious proportions for millennia. It’s also the inspiration for Aurena, whose name is derived from aurum, or “gold” in Latin. Expressing a marvellous aesthetic balance and pleasing symmetry, the complete bathroom furniture series is the work of Italian architect Antonio Citterio for Duravit. His adherence to precision and accuracy shines through in the collection’s gentle contours and finely crafted details, which are complemented by a range of luxurious finishes. By focusing on universal principles of good design, the line intentionally bridges the gap between high-end boutique hotels and private residences. “We took fundamental considerations as our starting point — the idea of the spatial solution, the idea of order in the bathroom, and the idea of handling water with care,” the designer explains.

Aurena comprises a variety of vanity cabinets and consoles (in multiple sizes and styles, with open or closed storage), wall-mounted and freestanding ceramic sinks (some with integrated dividers for toiletries and accessories), a bathtub, a wall-mounted toilet and mirrors. On the pragmatic side, all of the ceramic pieces (in glossy or matte white or matte black) are finished with the brand’s innovative HygieneGlaze, a baked-on antimicrobial finish with long-lasting efficacy. From the curvaceous ceramics that nod to the beauty of marble sculptures to the sophisticated silhouettes of the furniture pieces, the Aurena collection exudes a timeless quality that will surely be appreciated for years to come.
