“A light that is able to evoke life.” That’s how designers Davide Groppi and Giorgio Rava describe Origine, their slender, barely there fixture, which becomes increasingly thin the taller it gets — until it seems to dissolve into its own soft glow.
Since the 1980s, Davide Groppi has been reconsidering — and shattering — the limits of light, imagining bold, seemingly physics-defying new ways to illuminate homes, museums and hotels around the world. His fixtures (several of which have won AZ Awards) are also poetic gestures. Origine is the latest of his enigmatic creations.
Consisting of a matte black steel base with vertical adjustments, a conical and telescopic fiberglass stem and a linear LED module, the floor lamp is simply constructed, yet its robust engineering makes it suitable for use both indoors and out. Designed to illuminate the facades and interiors of private buildings, it comes in three heights, up to 4.9 metres. It is a light that exalts ambience — and perfectly captures its mysterious and transcendent quality.
