The Dujiangyan irrigation system was built more than 2,000 years ago and is still relied upon to nurture more than 5,000 square kilometres of nearby farmland. This garden celebrates that history with a series of cascading ponds, using wooden and stone materials to create a serene, meditative setting soundtracked by the gentle flow of water. Landscaped with 15 species of native trees and dozens of shrubs, ferns, grasses and aquatic plants, it also includes a complex biofiltration system to process rainwater.
