Both an inspiring hub and a shining example of energy efficiency, təməsew̓txʷ Aquatic and Community Centre is a game-changer for its community. Boasting expressive exterior fins, a capacious public-welcoming lobby and stunning pools, the building is sited along the Glenbrook Ravine, where its landscape reconnects a formerly disjointed natural water system with a new public green space and rain garden. As Canada’s first all-electric aquatic centre to achieve CAGBC Zero Carbon Building – Design certification, the facility aims to make a 92 per cent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions thanks to a mix of optimized building orientation, a highly energy-efficient envelope and innovative technologies like a gravity-fed inBlue pool filtration system.
